A nice piece of archaeological rescue. The core keyboard track (an old Lowrey) and some of the vocals are very old, dating back to the ADAT XT era, ca. 1998. Anthony Allen decided it was steady enough that he could drum to it, so he did. I replaced some "pitchy" vocals and Yani Martinelli turned it into pop gold. (pictured organ similar to model actually used)
lyrics
Someday you will understand him
Maybe then you’ll have something then
Maybe then you’ll have something new
Maybe then you’ll have something new to say
While there’s a chance to get it back
Maybe then you’ll have something then
You thought you knew him so well
(what do you know?)
You thought you knew him so well
(which way did he go?)
You thought you knew him so well, oh well
You thought you knew him so well
(poor judge I guess)
You thought you knew him so well
(stuck in his mess)
You thought you knew him oh well, oh well. Da, da, di, di, di, etc
You thought you knew him so well
(whose fault it is?)
You thought you knew him so well
(got to be his)
You thought you new him so well, oh well
You thought you knew him so well
(it don’t take no skill)
You thought you knew him so well
(the impulse to kill)
You thought you knew him so well, oh well
Long pointless middle rescued by Yani!
Someday you will understand him
Maybe then you’ll find something out
Maybe then you’ll know something more
Maybe then you’ll know what to watch
While there’s a chance to get it back (buuurrrpppp!)
Maybe then you’ll find something out
You thought you knew him so well
(just live and to learn)
You thought you knew him so well
(hard to discern)
You thought you knew him so well, oh well
You thought you knew him so well
(forgive and forget)
You thought you knew him so well
(don’t make your bet)
You thought you knew him so well, oh well. Di, di, do, do dah. Oooh. Etc..
