Carlotta's Napkin Portrait ("live")

from Hot Enough to Fry Your Dog's Brain by Scott Brookman

about

I'd read some tale about Picasso doing a quick sketch on a napkin as a tip in a restaurant. Imagine being able to do that and get away with it! I like this song a lot. It's free of the unnecessary complexity of a lot of these other early songs. There is a home recording of this song somewhere, but the one included on this cassette was a rare "live" recording of my olde band, The Apes of Wrath. We were recorded "live" at Morgan's, one of several Blacksburg, VA nightspots, back in the fall of '86. Also heard are Jay Lugar (drums) and Rob Woodrum (bass). Listen for strongly positive audience response and my guitar hero antics towards the end.
