about

I saw "Delmarva" on the side of a truck and remembered all those Jimmy Webb place name songs like "Galveston" and "Wichita Lineman." (Delmarva is the conflation of Delaware/Maryland/Virginia, by the way and names a regional peninsula.) So, I wrote my own.

lyrics

The top’s down I can see, and your hair’s flowin’ free
(Where you goin’ this weekend? Where you goin’ this weekend?)
And I know right away, that you’re goin’ for quite a stay
(Where you goin’ this weekend? Where you going to stay-ay-ay?)

Comin’ Delmarva Way

Maps are good if you’re lost, no one seems to mind the cost
(Where you goin’ this weekend? Where you goin’ this weekend?)
Check the air, oil and gas, try not to drive so fast
(Where you goin this weekend? Where you goin to stay-ay-ay?)

Comin’ Delmarva Way

Don’t you know I remember, the two of us were there (here?) on another day.

Suitcase sits by your side, anticipates the ride
(Where you goin’ this weekend? Where you goin’ this weekend?)
Staying here, there’s no way, someone knows you’re on your way
(Where you goin’ this weekend? Where you goin’ to stay-ay-ay?)

Comin’ Delmarva Way….
