about

One of my favorite songwriting tricks is to take a worn out phrase, such as the title, and make it mean something else. Today "getting involved" more often means helping one's fellow man via volunteer work. Here I reverted to the sleazier 70's meaning. The music is my best imitation of Carole King.

lyrics

Getting Involved

Been seein’ you ‘round I don’t know how long
Don’t know why this feelin’s gettin’ so strong

Getting Involved with me
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me?
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me?

Yeh, I think we have some friends in common
And you know that’s gonna be the problem

Getting Involved with me
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me?
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me?

Sometimes a secret can be such fun
Just how long do you think you can keep one?

Getting Involved with me (no finer time to be involved with me)
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me? (no finer place to be involved with me)
How ‘bout gettin’ involved with me?
