about

I've watched a lot of 60's TV shows, including the Avengers and the Prisoner, and read all of Sherlock Holmes. While actually riding a bike, I thought of this song about having to change your identity. I am pretty proud of this one which obviously references XTC musically. The harmony is glorious. Flavorful and self-contained.

lyrics

Lemon Lane

In a town where no one knows your name you can always find Lemon Lane
In a place where no one wants to know you can always find Lemon Lane

Lemon Lane just sit back and watch it melt away
Who are you to keep the myth alive for one more day?

Thumb your nose, you’ve left them all behind you can always try Lemon Lane
With some luck, you know they’ll never find you can always try Lemon Lane

Lemon Lane just sneak back to how it’s never been
Tell ‘em all the things they think that happened way back when

Won’t you please try Lemon Lane?
Flavorful and self-contained
Have you staked your claim?

(Annoying kazoo-style humming for complete bastards)

Take a break now you’ve made the other side you can always try Lemon Lane
You won’t find a nicer suicide, you can always try Lemon Lane

Lemon Lane when you know you need to disappear
It’s the place to settle back until you’re in the clear

Won’t you please try Lemon Lane?
Flavorful and self-contained
Have you staked your claim?

(Annoying kazoo-style humming for smart-asses)
