about

This is an old song about a lawn-obsessed neighborhood I used to live in. To me, it is an imitation of XTC. At least, it used to sound like one. Some tracks are very old, some I did some punch in/out work on, others were newly recorded for S2. Acoustic guitars are new. The vocal harmony is what I call "1940's radio harmony," that psychotically precise style wherein singers move through a progression of complex chords. There's lots of sliding into the next pitch in unison. Much overlapping as well, counterpoint, contrapuntal, something like that. No one does it anymore. Me neither. Too much work. Like what's my motivation?
